Rugby: Spain - Classic All Blacks
Information
On 21 May, the Wanda Metropolitan Stadium will be playing host to an historic rugby match between the Spanish national team and the Classic All Blacks, a team of former players from the New Zealand national side.
The match was initially supposed to take place on 29 May 2020, but the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic meant it had to be postponed until 8 May 2021. However, last year it had to be pushed back once again due to health and safety protocols. Now, finally, the clash between these two teams can go ahead thanks to the improvement in the situation, and the absolute dedication of the Classic All Blacks, the Spanish Rugby Federation, and Atlético de Madrid.
The organisers, Kiwi House, have arranged for the evening to become a celebration of sport with some of the best rugby players from Spain and around the world. They are also working to make sure fans can enjoy the match as a complete experience with a fan zone and a third half.
This is a unique opportunity to see some All Blacks legends. A squad that has won three rugby world cups, in 1987, 2011 and 2015, tying for this top spot with South Africa. 15 All Blacks players have been included in the Rugby Hall of Fame and four of them have also been inducted into the World Rugby Hall of Fame. They are also known for their famous haka, a Maori dance and battle cry, and they were awarded the Princess of Asturias Sports Prize in 2017.
Beer and soft drinks can be purchased throughout the game, and VIP admission includes beer and food before and after the match and at half time.
