El Greco
Information
Ever since it first opened in 1931, it has been a go-to place for tapas in Arapiles district of authentic Chamberí neighborhood.
It is a medium-sized bar with simple, traditional furniture of marble and wooden tables and barrels converted in high tables. Its walls are full of old photographs of Madrid, wall-clocks and, of course, a portrait of El Greco.
They offer a wide range of high-quality both cold tapas – like tostas (bruschetta-like savory toast), mojama (tuna jerky), anchovies from the Cantabrian sea, boquerones en vinagre (marinated anchovies) - and warm ones – Galician style octopus and tortilla de patata (Spanish potato omelet) – all served with a great selection of wines and beers.
