Hotels for families

Travelling with children requires special planning. You must think about entertaining them, about open air spaces so they can let off steam, about fun restaurants which offer special menus for them…. And, of course hotels where children are welcome and they are embraced as they deserve to be, even with unique proposals that make them feel like they have their own space and not everything is rules and bans.

Some of the most unique hotels in Madrid which have focused part of their business proposal on families are listed below.  Children will feel like kings and queens in these establishments that have been especially designed for them.

Hotel Indigo Silva, 6. Metro: Callao (L3, L5), Santo Domingo (L2) / Hotel Indigo Madrid - Princesa Marqués de Urquijo, 4. Metro: Argüelles, L3, L4, L6

The Hotel Indigo has 85 rooms, divided into three types and distributed over its eleven floors: Deluxe Room, Executive Room and the Suite. All of the rooms have independent air conditioning, a 40-inch TV, stimulating rain showers, top of the range bathroom amenities and Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.

Furthermore, the hotel has a Children’s Area, a space designed for kids with a games circuit, story-telling and puppet shows. … and a princess corner. At weekends and on public holidays, the breakfast buffet has a special section where children will find doughnuts, cereals, sandwiches, yoghurts…, with plenty of colours and a special energy.

The Hotel Indigo Madrid - Princesa, on the Gran Vía is a good option if you are looking to visit the city with the family. It has triple rooms, family room and kids room to accommodate children. It also has a children’s play room where the little one can entertain themselves with puppets, as well as a children’s story-telling corner.

InterContinental Madrid (Paseo de la Castellana, 49. Metro: Gregorio Marañon, L7, L10)

In times gone by, this was a hotel for Hollywood stars, like Frank Sinatra or Liz Taylor. Since its opening, history and glamour pervaded every corner of this hotel located in the financial and cultural heart of the city. However, all of this history is not a problem when it comes to welcoming children, as it organises a family brunch every Sunday and a cake-making workshop, which is a master class in which children learn with their hat and apron in hand. They can then taste the biscuits, chocolate truffles or red fruit millefeuille that they have prepared themselves.

Petit Palace President Castellana (Calle Marqués de Villamagna, 4. Metro: Rubén Darío, L5)

It has triple, family and quintuple rooms, with bunk beds for children, cots for babies and fun gifts so that the little ones feel important and welcome. For example, parents have cots for babies, bottle warmers, bottle sterilisers, bath-changing mat, car seats, dummies and non-slip beakers, bowls and thermometers. Of course, there are colouring books, crayons and other toys for older children. In the restaurant, there is an exclusive menu for them and a separate area for them if they want to have more freedom of movement.
