Sparge la Morte
Information
The Il Pomo d’Oro ensemble is performing two concerts in the Red Hall (Sala Roja) at Teatros del Canal on 21 and 22 May, inspired by the madrigals of the Italian composer, Gesualdo da Venosa, with an artistic stage design created by Davide and Giuseppe Di Liberto.
The elements used to create the stage are simple sheets of semi-transparent cellophane which both stage designers saw at a cemetery in Naples. They have used this material to generate a layout with a great deal of exotericism, unlike any other space-time, accompanied by warm led lighting through mobile structures (tripods that can be mounted on wheels) to form light and shadows and accentuate the silhouettes of the singers.
The soloists sing but they are also the actors and stagehands. There are also some wooden cemetery ladders, which have been especially built for the occasion and are used by the vocalists as podiums or stands.
Il Pomo D'Oro is an orchestra founded in 2012, specialising in opera and instrumental recitals. With different ensembles, it has the best soloists and instrumentalists of today. This band has been conducted by prestigious conductors, such as Riccardo Minasi, Stefano Montanari, George Petrou or Enrico Onofri. Francesco Corti has been its chief conductor since 2019. Francesco Corti has been its principal conductor since 2019.
