Considered to be one of today’s most international Portuguese stars, Salvador Sobral returns to Madrid with a performance at the Teatro Lope de Vega on 28 March. This concert forms part of the Festival de las Estrellas, in which he will offer a repertoire spanning his three albums that have already been released and some new songs from the album that will be released at the end of 2023.
Salvador Sobral was born in Portugal and became interested in music from a very early age. Throughout his professional career, he provided the vocals for the Indie-pop band, Noko Woi, in 2014, with which he performed at Sonar, where his career moved towards jazz and alternative music.
In 2017, he won the Festival RTP da Canção with the ballad, Amar pelos dois, written by his sister, Luísa Sobral, who is also a singer and songwriter. He represented his country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the same song, which he won with the highest score ever obtained in the contest.
In 2016, he released his first solo album, Excuse me; his second album in 2019, París, Lisboa, which took him on an extensive tour of Europe; bpm in 2021; and on 2022, he released the EP SAL, consisting of an original song and three songs that form part of his live repertoire, recorded at home with piano and vocals. In 2023, he plans to release his latest album, of which some songs can be heard at this concert.
