The Rhythm of the Night
Information
The famous DJ Nano, one of the most acclaimed electronic music artists in Spain, has created his own musical, which he is putting on at Gran Teatro CaixaBank Príncipe Pio until 29 April, taking audiences back to the golden age of dance music.
Produced by Fluge and Disorder Events, the story takes place in Madrid 1993, where Josito, a telecommunications student, discovers the ‘Bakalao’ route, bringing him to a world of night clubs, dance music, love, and sex. Through his experiences, audience members can once again enter legendary clubs such as Attica, Chocolate, Barraca, and New World and remember those heady days of non-stop partying.
DJ Nano, the alter ego of José Luis Garaña de los Cobos, is a musician born in Madrid in 1977 who began his career in the 1990s. He has played in venues such as Arena and Plastic, and at large events such as the Techno House Festival in the Leganés bullring. He has also performed abroad in countries such as Italy, France, and Belgium, and in 2004 Ministry of Sound signed him to record one of the most important trance compilations in history: Trance Nation.
But he is probably best known for Oro Viejo, an electronic music party he has been DJing since 2001. He has also presented TVE's music programme Música Sí and published a book of memoirs: Al otro lado de la cabina.
