De Re Metallica. About Metals I

New
    Information

The work of the visual artist Rosell Meseguer (Orihuela, 1976) features in this unique and poetic exhibition at the Lázaro Galdiano Museum in which more than 25 of the artist’s books and notebooks dialogue with several bibliographic treasures that are held at the Lázaro Galdiano Library, revealing the synergies between past and present, showing that classic concepts and themes are contemporary and universal, through which today’s world can be explained.  The exhibition can be seen from 2 March to 30 April.

The display cabinet in Room 1 and the Fabrics Cabinet are the museum spaces offering this journey through the work of the artist from Alicante, books by the artist which are unique pieces on different papers that will articulate new narratives along with the library’s books through unexpected analogies, with the aim of understanding the function of visual representations in contemporary culture and in developing our knowledge of the world in which we live.

Among these artist books, Meseguer has chosen unique pieces, books that have never been seen before, travel logs, fanzines and serialised publications made up of different papers and the use of different techniques.

Rosell Meseguer is a visual artist who has a PhD in Fine Arts from UCM. Since 2005, her professional activity has been between Europe and Latin America through collaborations with museums, galleries and universities.  Her work, developed on diverse formats, such as photography, installations, archives, publications, drawings, paintings and video, is linked to the research of historic processes and their socio-political and economic consequences and forms part of collections such as that of the C.A.2M.  Dos de Mayo Art Centre Madrid; AENA Foundation; Royal Academy of Spain in Rome; Unicaja Foundation or the IVAM in Valencia, as well as in private collections in the United States (Whitney Museum Board, New York), Latin America (MAC Museum of Contemporary Art in Santiago de Chile) and Spain (Seguros DKV).
