Massive Attack
Information
Massive Attack will be playing 18 concerts under the title MezzanineXXI celebrating the 21st anniversary of the album that brought them global success. Accompanying them on this tour is Elizabeth Fraser, singer from the Cocteau Twins who also provided the vocals on their famous single Teardrop.
The British band, made up of Robert del Naja and Grant Marshall, will revive their third studio album, Mezzanine, released in 1998, in a nostalgic journey that takes them into the very heart and soul of the record. In addition, the audiovisual production for this tour has been reconstructed from the original samples and influences. This hit record is being re-released on vinyl and will contain remastered versions of the original songs.
Considered the godfathers of trip-hop, Massive Attack have always rejected that label. Their style can be classified as experimental rock, although it combines elements of jazz, rap and other genres such as soul and dub with a powerful influence from electronic music in their darker facets. So far they have released six studio albums since 1991, when they brought out their first record, Blue Lines.
Their tracks have been used on series, films and television commercials. Teardrop, from the album Mezzanine, was used in the credits for the series House. Angel, from the same album, is also on the soundtrack for the film Snatch, and has also been used for the Hugo Boss advertising campaign in 2010.
