Madrid Urban Sports

    Information

Madrid Urban Sports will be holding its third edition from 16 to 18 June 2023 at its usual Madrid Rio-Matadero location. A festival that combines street sports with music, exhibitions, and urban art. The event will feature international competitions and national contests, with the best riders and athletes from all continents, as well as talented local youngsters.

Madrid Urban Sports (MUS) brings together the world’s best riders competing in scootering, roller freestyle, breaking, skateboarding and BMX. This event, supported by Madrid City Council and the Business Forum, represents the city’s bid to become the epicentre of sport and urban culture and position itself as a leading global sporting reference.

A multi-sporting event featuring great names and famous figures from the world of urban sports, an elite line-up of different nationalities. In addition, attendees can also find open spaces to practice or try out sports such as skateboarding, BMX, scootering, and more.

In the 2023 edition, Breaking will come to Madrid Río-Matadero to hold  Breaking For Gold, the international world cup for this urban discipline that will make its debut at the Olympic Games in Paris 2024. The competition will bring together today’s best BGirl and BBoy dancers to win a place in Paris and take this discipline to the highest level.

In BMX, the leading athletes from the C1 circuit will come together, backed by the UCI, which will be giving out some extra points for Paris for those who earn a place on the Central Park podium.  The parks will be the event’s main attraction, having remodelled Central Park and the Street Plaza for the occasion, boasting new spots and surprises.

In this latest edition, female sports are extensively represented, including all disciplines.  Those present will be able to watch the highest level female BMX, Skateboard, Breaking and Scooter Park and Street competitions, the latter two being new additions with respect to the previous two editions.

Urban art, music, and activities for the general public

Running parallel to the competitions, Madrid Urban Sports will also offer a wide range of cultural activities based on emblematic genres of urban music such as rap and trap, and a space dedicated to art, in which Madrid graffiti artists will show their creativity.

Music will also take centre stage during the breaks at the sporting events, with performances by leading trap and rap artists from Madrid. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in the activities of the Enjoy Zone, a space designed for all audiences based on current urban trends. This area will offer activities such as pump track, wood wave, mini ramps, and parkour, among others, along with a Kids Park.
