Joaquín Sorolla in front of the sea
Information
As part of the activities organised to mark the centenary of the death of the painter Joaquín Sorolla Bastida, the Sorolla Museum presents this original exhibition in which the paintings by the artist from Valencia are seen through the literary perspective of the writer Manuel Vicent, one of the great names from contemporary Spanish literature. The exhibition will be open to the public from 17 April to 17 September.
Manuel Vicent, also from Valencia, is considered to be "the Sorolla of our literature". Passionate about the painter and his work, as well as the Mediterranean and its people, Vicent delves into the pictorial archives of the Museum’s collection to create a specific literary narrative for the exhibition. In this way, the writer provides the voice, text and literature for the natural and human landscape that oozes out of Sorolla’s paintings.
