Ghost, The Musical

    Information

The famous hit film from 1990 starring Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, and Whoopi Goldberg has been adapted as a stage musical, a spectacular production that has been a huge success both on Broadway and in London’s West End. It won the Broadway World Spain Award for Best Musical and is now returning to the UMusic Hotel Teatro Albéniz from 21 April to 28 May with performances from Wednesday to Sunday.

Sam Wheat, a banker, and his girlfriend Molly Jensen, a potter, renovate and move into an apartment in Manhattan. One night, Sam and Molly are attacked by a mugger Willy López who shoots and kills Sam in a scuffle before stealing his wallet.

Sam sees Molly crying over his body and discovers he is now a ghost, invisible and unable to interact with the mortal world. Coming to terms with his death, Sam realizes that it was all a plan by his co-worker Carl Bruner who was laundering money for drug dealers.

Worried about Molly and unable to communicate with her, Sam seeks out Oda Mae Brown, a phony storefront psychic who is shocked to discover her true psychic gift when she can hear Sam speaking.

The film won two Oscar Awards - for best supporting actress (Whoopi Goldberg) and the best original screenplay. It also received three other nominations: Best picture, Best original score and Best editing.
