Expo of Light. The Landscape of Light. World Heritage

Finished
    Information

The cupula of the Westin Palace Madrid hotel, one of the buildings that forms part of the Landscape of Light, is hosting a visual and gastronomic experience from 2 June until 15 September that highlights the inclusion of the Madrid Landscape Site of Light on the UNESCO World Heritage list.  As part of the PHotoESPAÑA 2022 festival, this initiative includes a photographic exhibition by Antonello Dellanotte and a special menu created by José Luque, chef at La Rotonda, and inspired by the values of the Landscape of Light.

The in-person exhibition open to the public presents 15 large-scale and high quality works by the photographer and promoter, Antonello Dellanotte (Madrid 1968), one of the references in the dissemination of Madrid’s cultural heritage.  It consists of a selection of 30 photographs, of which 15 will be on display in the hall and another 15 in the extended virtual exhibition  (available until 31st December).

The photographs travel down the Landscape of Light in a unique, leisurely and emotional way; from the Prado Museum, passing by the Royal Botanical Garden, Atocha Station or the Royal Academy of Spain to the Retiro Park, stopping off at two exceptional events: the lockdown and Filomena. The exhibition is on display under the hotel’s dome.

This exhibition is joined by a gastronomic experience. The Executive Chef at The Westin Palace, José Luque, has created the Menu of Light, a gastronomic tribute to the Landscape of Light, which has been inspired by a selection of photographs that make up the exhibition and which establish a sensorial symbiosis between photography and gastronomy.  It is a menu created in collaboration with the curator of the exhibition, Natalia Núñez Dato, and has dishes with such evocative names as Roasted hake under dome of lotus root and pumpkin compote, Soufflé Filomena orSweet walk of nuts and sugar through El Retiro.
