Emilio Sánchez Perrier (1855-1907). Drawings
Information
The Prado Museum will host a monographic exhibition devoted to the facet as a drawer of the realist landscape maestro, Emilio Sánchez Perrier, in the D. Jerónimos Hall from 5 May to 30 July. This is the first time that an exhibition devoted solely to his drawings has been organised by the curator of the exhibition, Gloria Solache, Museum Technician in the Drawings and Prints Conservation Department at the Prado National Museum.
The painter from Seville, Emilio Sánchez Perrier, specialised in landscapes and Orientalist themes, was a member of the General Society of Fine Arts in France and the Academy of Fine Arts in Seville. He stood out for his paintings and water colours, especially his landscapes and water scenes, which included views over Seville, Granada, Paris, Morocco and Venice, but he also created many drawings.
Thanks to the generous donation by the Tatiana Pérez de Guzmán el Bueno Foundation to the Prado Museum in 2019, consisting of a series of 192 of his drawings, a full exhibition of his facet as a drawer can be contemplated for the first time ever.
