Each year, Casa de México in Spain celebrates the Day of the Dead in style. From October to November, the spectacular façade can be seen with happy little skulls made out of reed and bamboo by the artisans from Tepoztlán, Morelos; each with its own personality, following the tradition of José Guadalupe Posada. Of course, there will be the famous Mega Altar of the Dead, which is located on the staircase in the foyer and is made up of flower and shredded paper garlands. There will also be many other activities to discover this beautiful tradition.

The main altar is made up of more than twenty thousand paper flowers and other pieces of popular art, such as: paper flowers, cardboard pieces and embossed tin figures made by Mexican artists.

A spectacular façade

The façade and spaces of Casa de México are adorned in typical elements of this celebration, which has been declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. This year, the façade will be covered with a giant skull of Frida Kahlo, measuring 13 metres, accompanied by fabric flowers with a diameter of two metres and papier-mache skulls.
