The American alternative pop rock band has announced its much awaited return to Europe as part of the Butter Miracle Tour 2022, which will stop off at the La Riviera hall on 28 September. It is a concert in which the group will present songs from its latest EP, Butter Miracle Suite One.
Following a composing break of five years, the leader of Counting Crows, Adam Duritz, came up with four songs in the summer of 2019 whilst living alone on a friend’s farm in rural England. The natural environment and isolation inspired Duritz to write The Tall Grass, a kind of musical lamentation that describes his state of mind at that time. The song also led to Elevator Boots, the group’s first single for this new phase.
Founded in 1991 in Berkeley (United States) by the singer, Adam Duritz, and the guitarist, David Bryson, its name, Counting Crows, comes from a children’s rhyme which appears in the film, Signs of Life. Two years later, the group released its debut album: August and Everything After, produced by T-Bone Burnett. It was a big hit, selling more than seven million copies and leading the group to play with other groups, such as Cracker, The Cranberries or Bob Dylan. Its latest album was Somewhere Under Wonderland in 2014.
In 2004, the group recorded the melody, Accidentally in Love for the animated film, Shrek 2, which, in 2005, was nominated for an Oscar for the Best Original Song, a Golden Globe for the Best Original Song and a Grammy Award for Best Song written for film, television or other visual media.
Counting Crows was ranked eighth in the Billboard Greatest Of All Time: Adult Alternative 25th Anniversary Chart for 2021.
