Carmina Burana – La Fura dels Baus

    Information

After being seen by more than 200 000 people in three continents, La Fura dels Baus’ Carmina Burana combining Carl Orff’s powerful music with their own magic returns to Madrid from 7 to 18 June.

After a 30-year career, Carlus Padrissa, the founding member of La Fura dels Baus, has created a fast-pacing show with audiovisuals and beautiful costumes. It all takes you to a dream-like world half way between fantasy and reality

A cylinder of ten meters in diameter surrounds the orchestra on stage while some images, projected on it, illustrate the work. Carmina Burana is one of the most popular pieces of music of the twentieth century. Carl Orff drew his text from a thirteenth-century manuscript containing songs on earthly merrymaking, love and desire. La Fura dels Baus illustrates and illuminates the poetic strength of texts that, despite being over 800 years old, are still popular currency. The wheel turns, comes full circle to keep on turning.

Live music and amazing scenes on a stage featuring a cylinder that literally encloses the musicians while the images draw a gigantic moon, melting ice, a floral ecstasy, a grape harvest, taverns, singers hanging from cranes and plunging under wine, water and fire… Welcome to Carmina Burana.
