Naves del Español en Matadero
Information
Naves del Español en Matadero is a very useful space for all kinds of theatrical production, as its 5,900 m2, distributed in three units, allows great flexibility. The area for spectators, the stage and the stage machinery have been designed so that different configurations are possible, ranging from conventional theatre to more adventurous productions.
This versatility and the combination of the philosophy of the Matadero complex with that of Teatro Español allow Naves del Español to make a significant contribution to research into the performing arts.
The three pavilions into which this space is divided are:
Pavilion 10. It has a hall which is used as an exhibition space and which leads to the Max Aub Hall with capacity for 300 spectators. This pavilion also houses the Wooden Hall and the Concrete Hall, two multi-purpose rooms where workshops are held or creative pieces are exhibited. Nave 10 also has four rehearsal rooms.
Pavilion 11. It houses the largest hall, Fernando Arrabal Hall, with capacity for 600 people. It is a multi-purpose room that can be used for presentations in different formats. Its entrance hall is also used for artistic interventions.
Pavilion 12. This pavilion houses the Café Naves, where there is a small stage for performances and screenings and an exhibition space. It leads on to Pavilion 11.
