INEF Museum

    Information

Located in the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport, in the city’s Ciudad Universitaria campus, this museum aims to collect, research and disseminate all forms of sports and games in Spain, via the conservation of realia and documentation pertaining to sports practices and the associated cultural uses.

One of the key pieces in the collection is a 19th century gymnasium, created by José María Martínez in 1890, in Segovia, which was used to train the candidates hoping to join the Segovia Artillery Academy.

In addition, the museum features a wide variety of popular Spanish games and sports equipment from the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as an extensive collection of books, leaflets and an audio-visual archive through which it documents, investigates, reconstructs and reports on the past and present of sporting activity.
