Museum of Popular Art and Traditions
Information
The Museum of Popular Art and Traditions of the Autonomous University of Madrid was inaugurated in 1975 with a donation of more than 2,500 pieces from Guadalupe González-Hontoria y Allendesalazar. It's current location is an old rehabilitated corrala-style building, on Carlos Amiches street, 3-5, headquarters of the Cultural Centre of the UAM "La Corrala", that creates interesting fusion between popular urban and rural traditions.
The collections of the museum, consisting of ethnographic pieces from the entire national territory, have increased until reaching the current number of 8,000. The museum holds objects linked to daily life that reflect the way of life of the people that created and used them.
