Intermediæ (Matadero)
Information
This space within Matadero Madrid is dedicated to socially committed artistic practices, from the perspective of research and cultural innovation. It was the programme chosen and designed to inaugurate Matadero Madrid in 2007, and since then it has become a key cultural space in Madrid, and a national and international reference in the field of contemporary culture specialising in the development of art and community projects.
Ecology, children, public participation in culture, cultural mediation, the right to the city, among others, make up a collectively generated programme that shows the interests and sensitivities that cross the artistic community with an interest in the social. It has been developed both inside and outside the walls of Matadero Madrid.
Its programming includes the design of projects aimed at local residents of Matadero; projects focused on involving the general public in the artistic and cultural field; and working directly with the artistic and cultural fabric of the city, always in dialogue with the international scene dedicated to similar artistic practices. With a philosophy of open culture, the annual programme is aimed at a wide variety of audiences and offers talks and debates, presentations, seminars, exhibitions, and workshops.
It is located in Nave 17 at Matadero, sharing its Terrario, El Espacio and installations hall with Medialab.
