La Encina

    Information

This young theatre hall, located in Embajadores, joins the La Cuarta Pared, LaGrada, Plot Point and Estudio 2 venues to offer a wide range of small format productions that are characteristic of this multicultural and alternative neighbourhood.

This theatre space has two halls: Hall 1, with a surface area of 160 square metres, which can accommodate audiences of up to 85 people (with 12 seats located off to one side) has been designed in the style of a lounge area that will make anyone who decides to visit it feel immediately at home. Before performances start audiences can soak up the ambience, which features warm rugs, comfy seats and an old piano; and Hall 2, a space for 50 spectators with a double front and a comfortable dressing room.

La Encina is a project which originated in Uruguay, the country where one of its founders, Paco Sáenz, was working. This transoceanic experience has influenced  the hall’s programming, which typically promotes contemporary works that are not just from Spain but also from all  of Latin America.
