Guitarras Ramírez

    Information

Guitarras Ramírez was founded in1882 by José Ramírez de Galarreta y Planell, a luthier master from Madrid. He was an apprentice at the age of 12 and when he turned 24 he established the business in Rastro. The shop and the craft workshop were both in first place at Concepción Jerónima 2.

He was one of the most outstanding guitar maker masters of his time and he gave birth to the called Escuela de Madrid de Constructores de Guitarra. Today, his descendants, the 5th generation, still manage the business.

Among the marvellous guitars that were born in this workshop, the Tablao Guitar stands out as well as the cedar soundboard. Andrés Segovia played his guitars at all his concerts. They have been rewarded several times and received many prizes such as the golden medal of Chicago Guitar Society (1962) or the golden one of the Madrid Crafthand Union (1972).
