Santos Seseña Rojas, tailor by trade, set up this shop in 1901 (initially, it was called Le Printemps) in the heart of the city, between the Literary Quarter and the Sol area, in Calle Espoz y Mina 11, on the corner of Calle de la Cruz, 30. There, he started to make the hand-made Spanish cape following traditional cutting and hand-stitching methods, as well as suits, overcoats and trench coats. 

In 1927, the shop began its expansion and opened its current shop in Calle de la Cruz, 23. Since 1930, use of  the cape among women has been promoted and in the 1950s, it started selling capes all over the world, even advertising in foreign magazines.

At the end of the 1960s, Seseña decided to specialise in the design of capes, leaving the gentlemen’s tailoring to one side. 

Its clients include personalities from 20th century culture, film and politics, ranging from Valle Inclán and Pío Baroja to Hillary Clinton, Picasso, Buñuel, Rodolfo Valentino, Placido Domingo, Hemingway, Gary Cooper, Catherine Deneuve or Federico Fellini, as well as serving the Royal Household since 1924, when Alfonso XIII ordered capes for him and the princes, Jaime and Juan.
