Antonio Machado

    Information

Antonio Machado is a reference in Madrid’s literary world. This bookstore is a common spot for men and women of the arts who usually visit it, as well as the place where many writers choose to sign copies of their books. It had a crucial role for intellectuals during the grey era of Franco’s regime along with a small handful of Madrilenian bookstores.

Their trademark quality is their personalized treatment, close and kind, when it comes to offering advice about a book choice, whether it be one of the great classics, contemporary literature or the latest publications. Their historic shop on calle Fernando VI now has another larger partner in the basement of Círculo de Bellas Artes. They both honour the house’s humanistic and literary tradition, and include one of the largest sections in Madrid devoted to children’s and young adult’s literature. They feature thousands of references both for individuals and for public and private institutions.
