Antigua Pastelería del Pozo

    Information

This cake shop, close to Puerta del Sol, is the oldest in Spain. Founded in 1830, it was taken over by Julián Leal Charle in 1900, whose heirs still run the business today. You can savour delicious sweets there, particularly its pastries and King’s cake (without candied fruit), which are home-made following age-old recipes.

The cake shop has undergone several refurbishments but conserves its original furniture, with a marble and wood counter, old cash register and a traditional scale with two pans.

Located at number 6, Calle del Pozo, it takes its name from the street, which in turn owes its name to the traditional belief of the existence of a miraculous well in the same street, which held relics of the saints.
