Casa Baranda
Information
Casa Baranda sits on the site of the former Taberna de Paco Manteca, a 19th Century bar that represents the most authentic and traditional side of Madrid. In the vein of such traditional 'tabernas' or bars, it serves good house vermouth, good wines, Czech Kozel beer, craft beers from Fábrica Maravillas, and an array of sherries, as well as tapas and larger sharing platters.
The owners of this bar have created the feel and style of a traditional 'taberna' bar through the decor, the bar, the beer barrels, bar stools, photos and old posters for San Isidro, which take customers back to a different time.
It serves up a typical Spanish bar menu, including cured meats, small filled rolls known as 'montaditos', fried potatoes with a spicy tomato sauce (patatas bravas), kebabs, salted fish, and of course fried squid sandwiches and Madrid style tripe stew ('callos'). All made using quality ingredients and according to traditional recipes. The kitchen is open all day, serving from breakfast all the way up to dinner.
