Welcome to Madrid

The legendary band fronted by Robert Smith will be returning to Madrid on 11 November with Tour Euro 22. Their last major tour was in 2016, although they performed at the Mad Cool Festival in 2019. Alongside tracks from their latest album, when they perform at the Wizink Center they will also play some of their greatest hits including Lullaby and Close to me. The Scottish group The Twilight Sad will once again be opening for them.

The Cure revolutionised rock music in Europe in the 1980s. The band got together in 1976 in Crawley, dipping their toes into various music genres such as alternative rock, post-punk, electronic music, and goth rock, a label reaffirmed by the characteristic look of the vocalist.

Their first album Three Imaginary was released in 1979, and after several changes in line-up, their big break came in the mid-80s, along with a slight shift towards pop, before later returning to rock. Their greatest moment came in 1989 with the release of Disintegration. In 1991, they won the Brit Award for Best British Band.

In 2019, the band entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as one of the most influential groups in rock history. Now they are back, performing tracks from their first, and possibly last, album to feature original music since 4:13 Dream (2008).
