Carl Andre: Sculpture as Place, 1958-2010
Information
This exhibition at the Velázquez Palace contains works by American sculptor Carl Andre, following his innovative trends and his deep interest in language.
‘Sculpture as Place’ presents around 200 sculptures and works on paper made over the past 50 years. Everything can complement our understanding of such an influential figure in contemporary art. Andre, whose evolution he summarised as a passage from ‘sculpture as form to sculpture as structure to sculpture as place’, uses industrials material such as metal, wood and bricks in his most innovative sculptural work.
The show includes Andre’s typed-out poems, collages and other works on paper done between 1958 and 1972.
