The Monumental de Las Ventas bullring in Madrid will host the world’s most prestigious bullfighting event: San Isidro Fair, which takes place for a month around Saint Isidro’s Day, from 10 May to 4 June Leading figures from the bullfighting world meet each year in Madrid’s bullring, a major venue for great fights throughout history. 

San Isidro Fair, which kicks off on 10 May, will host 18 bullfights, 2 bullfights on horseback and 3 fights with young bulls. The fair brings together a total of 47 fighters:  32 bullfighters, 6 horseback bullfighters and 9 young bullfighters. As for the bulls, 23 estates have been announced, representing a total of 8 different breeds.

Rest days are also scheduled in the programme (Tuesday 16, Monday 22 and Monday 29 May). Once the continuous cycle is completed, there will be some In Memoriam bullfights, which, in this first edition, will pay tribute to José Cubero “Yiyo”, and the Charity Bullfight, with a line-up open to fighters.

The 2023 edition recalls an event that has not occurred for several decades, numerous figures will make a grand entrance on up to three occasions: Roca Rey, El Juli, Morante de la Puebla, Alejandro Talavante and Emilio de Justo. The bullfighters that will be taking part in two bullfights include José María Manzanares, Miguel Ángel Perera, Sebastián Castella, Daniel Luque, Pablo Aguado, Diego Urdiales, Paco Ureña, Ginés Marín or Román.
