Welcome to Madrid
The artist from Cantabria, Okuda San Miguel, along with his representation agency, Ink and Movement, is behind this new space for creation, management and dissemination of contemporary art in the Usera district, which was officially opened on 27 April 2022. The project has arisen with the idea of proposing a new relationship model between creators, industry and the public.
Factory of Dreams will be a generator of experiences and a precursor of interdisciplinary projects, providing society and the city with a multi-purpose space that offers access to artistic, training and dissemination activities.
The space will have a living programme in which the exhibitions, dissemination contents and training workshops will be the main features. In addition to the exhibition and events hall, the warehouse will be home to Okuda San Miguel’s artistic studio, different creation spaces, the Ink and Movement offices and 4 independent boxes occupied by the artists, Spok Brillor, Mister Piro, Sabek and Omar Ayyashi.
A graduate in Fine Arts, Okuda San Miguel is known worldwide for his unique iconographic language of geometric structures and multi-coloured patterns, which could be categorised as Pop Surrealism and can be found on streets, railways and abandoned factories around the globe. His conversion of an abandoned Asturian church at the end of 2015, which was named Kaos Temple and has become a new icon of contemporary art, can be highlighted. His works often raise questions about existentialism, the universe, the infinite, the meaning of life and the contradictions of the false freedom of capitalism, showing a conflict between modernity and our roots and ultimately, between man and the same.
