Welcome to Madrid
Journalist Helen Lopez, who has been covering chocolate related stories for some time now, has opened an Escuela de Chocolate, the first training school in Madrid for aspiring chocolatiers and chocolate lovers alike, delivering courses about how chocolate is made from cocoa beans. It offers courses and chocolate tastings, aimed at the general public, companies, and professionals in the food and pastry sector.
One of the main missions of this school is social inclusion. It will run short courses for people at risk of exclusion, providing them with a set of skills so they are better able to find a job.
The school is housed in a 100 m2 facility, equipped with ovens, refiners, dehusking machines, and even machinery from former Spanish chocolate factories.
It will run all kinds of different courses, including ones for people just looking to have fun. All courses include chocolate tasting.
