Welcome to Madrid
This new museum, located alongside Plaza de Jacinto Benavente and close to Puerta del Sol, offers a 360º sensoral experience that takes visitors on a journey through the different interpretations of the masterpiece by Diego Velázquez, Las Meninas.
By means of dozens of high-tech projectors distributed around the museum’s eight halls, visitors can experience different ways of appreciating art through the five senses, entering, for example, inside the 4-D canvas of Las Meninas and in halls with holograms, enabling the painting to be studied, or enjoying the interactive facilities of sculptures of the maids of honour projected via video mapping, accompanied by Baroque music and contemporary rhythms.
Enter the room at the Alcázar, where it was painted, design your own Maids of Honour or talk to Velázquez through holograms are some of the options on offer at this innovative space, which also boasts a selection of the most representative maids of honour from the Meninas Madrid Gallery urban exhibition.
The museum has an audio guide in Spanish and English.
