Welcome to Madrid
Located between Chueca and Malasaña, this bookshop opened in November 2020 and is the first in the city dedicated to Latin American literature. Here you can find a wide selection of narrative, poetry, and essays by Latin American authors, both current and classic, as well as works from independent publishers and specially chosen titles making their first appearance in Spain.
But La Lata Peinada is not just any bookstore. The people behind its inception, Ezequiel Naya and Paula Vázquez, both from Argentina, have created a dynamic cultural space that promotes activities such as writing workshops, reading clubs, book launches, and a Latin American Literature Festival. They have an artisan catalogue, in which 50% of the books they import have no distribution in Spain, a bookcase with works that they class as “little gems” of Latin literature, and a café area where you can enjoy a classic Argentine toasted sandwich, as well as coffee, draught beer, wines, cakes, cookies, and croissants.
La Lata Peinada opened its first branch in 2019 in Barcelona, in the neighbourhood of El Raval.
