Welcome to Madrid

The famous German publishing house, Taschen, has its Madrid store in Salesas, close to Chueca. Its entire catalogue can be found there.  The bookshop hosts diverse cultural activities, such as signing sessions, book presentations and all types of events related to culture.

The establishment is divided into two well defined and differentiated areas. On one hand, there is the main space where the publishing house’s entire catalogue is on display. At the rear, there is another space that has a gallery atmosphere with the collectors’ and art editions.

In addition to Spanish, the bookshop also has English versions of some of its books as well as multi-language editions in Spanish, Italian and Portuguese or German, French and English.

Among the furniture used for the store’s  unique interior design, the Superellipse table by Bruno Mathsson & Piet Hein, which presides at the entrance, stands out. It is illuminated by a  GUBI chandelier with 16 Bonderub, Claus and Torsten Thorup Fog & Morup lamps (Denmark, 1968) and is surrounded by the store’s original centennial bookshelves.  Behind, in the art gallery, a multi-coloured blown glass lamp stands out with eight lamps designed by Gio Ponti (1946) on a small wooden table with its two matching armchairs, which are originals from the Vendôme Bar at the Ritz in Paris.
