Welcome to Madrid

In 1892, Rafael Fernández opened a number of taverns with the name 'La Ardosa', after the town of the same name in the province of Toledo. The one on Calle Colón No. 13 still shows parts of its original decoration, such as the engraved glass sign, the tiled skirting and the fan.

They offer a wide variety of Irish beers at very reasonable prices, vermouth on tap, lagers, fine wines from La Ribera and Rioja. For snacks, they offer a variety of 'tapas', 'salmorejo' (a thick, cold tomato and garlic soup), cold meats, cured meat from León, duck ham and potato omelette, among other things.

'La Ardosa' has become a unique location where, over the years, many have learned to appreciate beer differently and where barmen have learned the art of pouring it. Among its numerous awards, it has the oldest Guinness tap and is also considered to be the best Pilsen beer garden in Spain.

The Ardosa Group also has Casa Baranda, at Calle Colón, 11, and Bar Sidi, at Calle Colón, 15.
