Welcome to Madrid

This statue which was created by the sculptor, Félix Hernando García, in 2001 and is a tribute to the Madrid sweepers, can be found very close to Puerta del Sol, in Plaza de Jacinto Benavente.

The sculpture of a 1960 road sweeper is made out of bronze and is secured directly to the ground. The figure, dressed in the traditional uniform of that time, has been carved hard at work, sweeping.
