Welcome to Madrid

This museum is located beneath the stands of La Zarzuela Race Course, one of Eduardo Torroja's iconic works, international landmark in the history of the development of laminar structures in Modern Architecture, declared a Cultural Asset (BIC) in the category of monument in 2009.

The architect and director of the Eduardo Torroja Foundation, Pepa Cassinello, is responsible for the museum, which houses a representative sample of the engineer's work in the form of models, plans, documents, photographs, journals and books from his time, documenting the achievements of one of the most important international figures in the history of 20th Century engineering. It also has other rooms for different complementary activities, raising the national and international profile of this landmark of Modern Architecture and the world of horseracing it provides a home for.

Given the variety of different people who attend the activities that take place at the Hipódromo de la Zarzuela racecourse, the Museum was created with a view to attracting not only architects and engineers, but also horse riding and racing enthusiasts, and the teenagers and children who accompany them. For this reason, the museum has 6 interconnecting rooms:

  • - 3 rooms dedicated to showcasing a representative portion of Eduardo Torroja’s legacy.
  • - 1 temporary exhibition room showing cutting-edge works of Spanish Engineering and Architecture.
  • - 1 room dedicated to the history of horse racing at the Hipódromo de la Zarzuela racetrack.
  • - 1 screening room showing short films related to these three themes
