Welcome to Madrid
This 'taberna', located in the heart of Malasaña, captures the essence of Madrid's authentic old eating establishments, fully respecting their traditional spirit.
The traditional character of Casa Macareno is present in each and every detail of this restaurant, as well as its cuisine, created by Pepe Roch, who has divided the menu into six sections. The first two sections offer cold entrees such as cold meats, cheeses, conserves, and pickles, whereas the third section includes typical dishes such as ham croquettes with truffle, Cordoba style salmorejo (thick chilled tomato soup), 'broken eggs', and patatas bravas (fried potatoes with a spicy tomato sauce). The fourth section is 'Gourmet', a mixture of modern dishes such as sea bream tiradito, and classic dishes such as seasonal asparagus or grilled vegetables. Lastly, we find the 'Oven' section, with specialities such as cod gratin, and 'Embers', with flame grilled dishes such as baby squid with shallots.
