Welcome to Madrid
Housed in an old Renaissance mansion located between the districts of Lavapiés and Las Letras, this restaurant specialising in cuisine from Andalusia and the Canaries offers a menu that takes popular recipes and updates them with the special touch of its experienced chef.
Manuel Urbano, former chef de cuisine at Sacha, creates at La Malaje a menu filled with references to the south, with an abundance of popular dishes and stews given a contemporary twist and served as light bites at the large bar area and tables nearby. Alternatively, you can enjoy a full-size portion in a small minimalist dining area with a total of twelve tables.
The menu at La Malaje returns to the traditional cuisine of Andalusia, particularly Cordoba, where Urbano is from, but also of the Canary Islands, where the chef was raised. So we find dishes such as pickled razor clams from Huelva, tomato salad, Mamá Fina's salad, cuttlefish croquettes, and aubergines with honey.
