Junta Municipal de Distrito de Moncloa

    Information

This building, initially intended to be a tribute to those who died for Madrid in the Civil War in the battle for the city, is now the Moncloa District Municipal Council.

This building was designed by the architect, Manuel Herrero de Palacios, in 1949, after winning a call for ideas competition. It is a building that looks like a mausoleum, with a circular plaza at the entrance covered by a dome with a lantern, which was initially intended to place an enormous cross in memory of the fallen, given the use for which the building was designed.

This building also houses the Moncloa Cultural Centre, a municipal space dedicated to culture and training.
