Welcome to Madrid

Located in the heart of the Argüelles district, by the Plaza de España, La Charca is a modernised tavern where you can enjoy tapas and a beer at the bar, and traditional Spanish cuisine with simple offerings and nods to Asturian cooking.

Here you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer as an aperitif, accompanied by La Charca's homemade croquettes, fried anglerfish, or goat's cheese with caramelised onion. You can also savour traditional flavours such as classic Asturian 'cachopo' (two veal fillets with layers of ham and cheese between them and fried in breadcrumbs), made here with D.O. Asturiana veal steaks, as well as Allande style ‘cachopo’ (filled with cooked gammon and three types of Asturian cheese, a house secret), Asturian 'fabada' bean stew, roasted monkfish with baby squid in ink and onion, rice with lobster, and mushroom risotto with braised foie gras. And one of the house specialities is a traditional dessert: caramelised rice pudding.

The restaurant has a long bar and an area with high tables where you can enjoy a beer and appetisers. At the back there is an interior courtyard decorated with plants and exposed wooden beams, with low untreated wooden tables and different coloured chairs, which is the restaurant's main dining area. It also has its own bespoke wine cellar, which is a warmer and more inviting space for you to take your time over your meal.
