Welcome to Madrid

Madrid’s central branch of the Barcelona chain of bookshops, which opened in  September 2012. Housed within a former 19th Century mansion house, stretching over 1200 m2, La Central de Callao has more than 70,000 books specialising in philosophy, history, social sciences, art, comics, sports, cooking, literature, and children’s books.

In this three-storey building (arranged around an internal courtyard/atrium, a former carriage courtyard where a large cypress tree grows) you can also find a café-restaurant (El Patio) and an events room (El garito, on floor - 1, the former cellar that was used as a tobacco storeroom), as well as a wide range of cultural activities.

La Central is also present in the Reina Sofia Contemporary Art Museum.
