Welcome to Madrid

The origin of the name of this haberdashery, which dates back to 1 May 1896 and is specialised in buttons and haute couture accessories, must lie in the Parisian fashion, which at that time was a sign of quality and glamour, with which the founder, Federico García Rodríguez, filled its shop windows and cupboards. The business initially had two shops in Calle Montera and in Calle Barquillo.

The shop specializes in all kinds of fashion design accessories: buttons, belts, hats, headdresses, flowers, gloves, passementerie and other special-order items. Made from in-house designs, the shop’s buttons shine with the same radiance as those made by the best brands, including Balenciaga and Pertegaz. The shop’s municipal license, for stores on Calle del Barquillo and Calle la Montera, dates back to July 30th, 1896.

In 1945 the young Rafael García Álvarez, grandson of the founder, began his apprenticeship. He eventually went on to become an expert in buttons and create his own designs. In 1969, along with his daughters María Paz and Belén García, he founded the shop location which is still open for business today.
