Ansorena

    Information

After being based in various locations around Madrid, jewellers Ansorena set up close to the Retiro Park in the Salamanca district, where it retained the spirit that gave its founder Celestino Ansorena the title of “Jeweller and diamond cutter to the Royal Household”.

Throughout its century and a half of history it has made numerous items of jewellery for the Royal Household, such as the pieces made for Queen Isabel II and her ladies-in-waiting for her marriage to Francisco de Asís de Borbón, Duke of Cádiz. Ansorena also made the diamond tiara with dynastic fleur de lys flowers worn by Queen Victoria Eugenia for her wedding and still worn by Queen Sofia on special occasions. One of the jewellers’ most famous creations was the crown worn by the Virgen del Pilar image in Zaragoza, an iconic figure of this Aragonese city.

Nowadays, Ansorena is also an auction house and art gallery, specialising in hyperrealist paintings. It was opened in 1986 and focused on contemporary painting, and since then has held a number of exhibitions of work by well-known artists and young talent alike, but always remaining true to its figurative realist line.
