Cardona Pharmacy

    Information

It is believed that it existed before the date of its foundation since it figures in the list published by Puerto Sarmiento, of the chemist’s established in Madrid during 1833. The first owner was Pedro Herranz and today it is managed by the Cardona siblings, María Paz and Jesús.

This nice chemist, panelled in dark wood with arcades is decorated by golden garlands and show a Galene bust inside a medallion dressing up the main front. There is a central wooden-marbled table surrounded by antique shelves painted in white.

Back then, a sandwich man was used for advertisement. During the Civil War, the premises were expropriated by the CNT, though it kept running. The premises next door has become a herbalist which is part of the pharmacy. It is decorated with modern furniture.
