Welcome to Madrid
Miu Miu is synonymous with freedom and extravagance and the creator of this luxury brand is considered by many to be the most influential in the world. Miuccia Prada is the designer who has given a contemporary feel to Italian style and class, reinventing the family business (Prada) with this second line: Miu Miu. Initially the brand was a younger version of Prada with an alternative style, but it soon began to develop an approach of its own. Its designs are simple but in tune with modern trends, blending experimentation with respect for tradition. The mix seems impossible or contradictory but she has pulled it off. Miu Miu is extravagant, liberating, spontaneous and has little time for what is established. Today nobody considers it a second line, as it has succeeded in developing an independent creative line with considerable influence in the world of fashion in its own right. The precise design of its stores reflects the brand’s values and concept of style. In this case there are 720 square metres of space on two floors which are divided into three separate areas: one for handbags and another for shoes on the ground floor, each with its own entrance, and a third area for prêt-à-porter on the first floor. As with their other stores, the architect Roberto Baciocchi was commissioned to transform the premises with a series of contrasts using an unusual combination of materials. The result is a fascinating and timeless atmosphere, interwoven with lights, mirrors, steel, and gold damask tapestries, which will delight lovers of fashion.
