Welcome to Madrid
Between Calle Alcalá and Calle Goya, in the Salamanca district, you'll find one of the Madrid temples of antique books. This antique bookshop was opened in 1952 by Francisco Sanz Simón and specialised, for the most part, in bibliographical works. Since then, it has dedicated itself to buying and selling antique books: pamphlets, manuscripts, etchings and maps.
Currently, it's under the management of the second generation, Isabel and Ángel Sanz Rosado. They've been producing a catalogue of antique, rare and curious books since 1962; they issue it periodically and distribute it for free among people and institutions that request it.
What's more, they have a collection of antique, rare and curious books on varied topics, paying special attention to Spanish history, literature, bibliographical works, local topics, etc.
They also offer guidance and valuation for private customers and institutions. A place where you can learn about the history of books, for both amateurs and beginners, as well as the most passionate bibliophiles.
