Welcome to Madrid
El Mercado de Maravillas, which first opened in 1942, is one of five municipal markets located in the district of Tetuán. This local shopping mall offers a wide variety of stalls, spanning a host of different genres and attracting all kinds of people, in one of the city's most culturally and racially diverse neighbourhoods. And the market is a gathering place for one and all.
It is one of the city's largest markets, covering an area of close to 9,000 square metres, with over 250 stalls that sell all manner of goods: meat, fish, fruit, baked goods... but also cleaning products, stationery, travel agencies, repossessed goods, underwear, and a vast array of other proposals. It can be accessed from Calle Bravo Murillo, Calle Palencia, Calle Hernani and Calle Condesa de Gavia. It also has its own car park, with one hour’s free parking for purchases over 5 euros, ATMs, escalators, and an information desk for those visiting this market for the first time.
