Welcome to Madrid

This shop, founded by Toribio Hernanz, has specialised in cordage and nets for more than a century, as well as making espadrilles, for which it is best known.  This type of footwear is no longer a symbol of work in the field or in factories and is now used in everyday life. It even managed to enter the world of fashion in the 1960s through Yves Saint Laurent, who wore them on the catwalks of half the world, whereby they became shoes used by such well known figures as Jacqueline Kennedy or Marilyn Monroe.

Consequently, Casa Hernanz fills its shop each day with hundreds of customers, selling around 100,000 pairs a year. Its hand sewn espadrilles come in numerous models, around thirty colours and in all foot sizes at more than affordable prices.  Its customers include film producers, whereby its footwear has appeared in the film, Gladiator or in the Spanish television series, Palmeras en la Nieve, among others.
