Welcome to Madrid
El Ángel opened its doors in 1867 at No. 6 Calle Postas, near Sol, as “Sobrinos de Pérez”, selling all kinds of textile goods, though, from the outset, it also had a section of clothing for religious communities.
Benito Pérez Galdós mentioned this shop in his novel Fortunata and Jacinta, as demonstrated by the plaque that has been on the façade since 1971. In the late 1980s, the part of the business dealing with religious items was expanded into nearby premises on Calle Esparteros.
The shop, while maintaining its old atmosphere of tradition, has also embraced new technology, offering an online electronic sales catalogue, where you can browse and purchase their products (textiles, images, ornaments, gold items, nativity scenes, glazing, etc.).
